Leverage your handling and dissemination of geospatial data on GeoServer with world leading expert. The course is meant for Geoserver users, application developers and geographic data services administrators and will be held in Helsinki (Finland) in May 2016. Participants should have basic skills in the Geoserver software and in management of geographic data.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

GeoServer on is an open source software application widely used throughout different sectors. It ingests, manages and serves geospatial data and produces high quality rendering of maps and can handle hundreds to thousands of map layers easily. Designed for interoperability, it publishes data from any major spatial data source using open standards. GeoServer provides the basic functionalities to create interoperable Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) according to standards edited by Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and ISO Technical Committee 211 (ISO TC 211).

Geoserver is used in several organizations in Finland and worldwide. National Land Survey of Finland, Finnish Meteorological Institute and City of Tampere are users of Geoserver.

The course and the materials will be in English. The course consists of lessons and exercises. The exercises materials can be used after the course also. Each participant has a computer reserved for the courses.

TRAINER: WHO IS ANDREA?

Andrea Aime holds the technical lead at GeoSolutions S.A.S. – at one the leading GeoServer developer and expert organisation in the world. He describes himself as ”Open source enthusiast with a strong experience in Java development” and apart from Java, he specilizies Hibernate, Spring, GeoTools, GeoServer, J2EE in general and GIS theory.
