Paul Houghton, Head of Mobile development, Futurice Ltd

Paul Houghton is the Head of Mobile development for Futurice. Based out of Helsinki, Paul is involved in customer projects, does Mobile Java training around the world as a Nokia Certified Trainer, and frequent speaker on Android and HTML5 mobile business side. Paul has been focused on mobile application development and the telecom industry for the past 15 years including work as a Business Analyst in Sonera and co-founding several innovative companies. Paul studied Electrical Engineering in the US before receiving MS Industrial Management and MBA degrees from TKK/Aalto University.

 

Espen Riskedal, Co-Founder Cutehacks.com

Espen is the co-founder of Cutehacks.com, a software company that focus on mobile apps development. Prior to founding Cutehacks, Espen worked at Trolltech and Nokia for eight years and was the teamlead for the Symbian and the Windows Mobile port of Qt. Espen likes burgers and beer, and plays Minecraft.

 

 

 

Kai Erlund, Attorney, Counsel & Co-head of Tech group, Krogerus Attorneys Ltd

Kai Erlund specialises in intellectual property and technology law. He has worked for several years both as an attorney and as an in-house counsel (e.g. in Helsinki based law firms and software vendors such as Oracle and Symantec). He has negotiated and executed a variety of technology agreements both in Finland and abroad.

 

 

 

Marcos TongIT Specialist, Nokia Siemens Networks and event organizer collaborator, Android Aalto

Marcos Tong is IT Specialist at Nokia Siemens Networks and event organizer collaborator at Android Aalto. Marcos has been involved in a number of mobile software development projects, mainly for the Android platform. As part of NSN, Marcos has been working in the analysis and architecture of machine-to-machine business for the Telco industry, and has been involved in mobile health projects. As part of Android Aalto, Marcos has been participating actively in the community, developing and contributing in the organization of events. Marcos is an enthusiast of android and development of mobile apps and services in general. Marcos graduated in 2003 of Bachelors of Computer Systems Engineering from Monterrey Tec and in 2009 of Masters in IT Management from Turku School of Economics.

 

Tommi MikkonenProfessor, TUT, Department of Software Systems

I work as a full professor responsible for distributed and mobile software. My research interests include mobile systems, web programming, distributed systems, software architectures, and aspect-oriented software development, as well as their different combinations. I am an active member of two research teams in the institute, Practise and DisCo. Moreover, during my recent visit at Sun Microsystems Laboratories, I have participated in the development of Sun Labs Lively Kernel. I have been pioneering the teaching of mobile software development in Finland since 2002, and the classes have been transmitted to a number of different universities.

 

Tom YatesTechnical Lead, Packet Video Ltd

Working as a Technical Lead of two teams working on a multimedia application for a major European operator targeting Windows Phone 7 and Android devices from several major OEM’s. Responsible for interfacing directly with customers (Operators and OEM’s), attending meetings with clients and providing an on-site technical presence when required, as well as design and implementation of the applications themselves and organising the teams’ work and tasks. The main areas of technical expertise are: Video and Audio Codecs, Flash, C#, Windows Phone, Android, Java, RTSP Streaming, DLNA, .Net, Silverlight, Expression Blend.

 

Andrew KnightSenior Software Engineer, Digia

Andrew Knight is a relatively new face to the mobile industry, having moved to Finland a few years ago to study at the University of Tampere. Andrew specializes in mobile UI, doing cross-platform development at Digia. He is especially interested in novel interaction techniques, information visualization, as well as adhering to (and enhancing) web standards. In his free time, he enjoys the Finnish nature and trying out new microbrews.
